Nowadays Donetsk area is not only industrial heart of the country, but also the large spiritual and cultural center. The pearl of Donbass spiritual life, Svyatogorsk monastery of assumption became the place of pilgrimage believers not only from Ukraine, but also from Commonwealth of Independent States.
        Svyatogorsk monastery has ancient and unique history is rooted in far 17 century. Unique beauty and originality of Holy Mountains were described by A.P. Chehov, I.A. Bunin, V.I. Nemirovich - Danchenko.

 
        During the years of Ukraine independence Svyatogorsk Monastery became the present spiritual center of Donbass and Eastern Ukraine.
        Taking into account antiquity of the Monastery, its historical role and numerous requests of Donetsk region believers, and also contribution of the Monastery to spiritual life of the region and Ukraine, the Sacred Synod of Ukrainian Orthodox Church has made the decision to give the status of Laurels to the Svyatogorsk monastery of assumption.
        The solemn consecration will take place in September of the current year in Svyatogorsk Laurels.
        In Donetsk region the work of necessary means attraction for reconstruction Laurels is developed. The charitable fund of Donbass spiritual revival "SVYATOGORIE" has declared the gathering of donations for this good aim.
