STAROBESHEVSKY DISTRICT

Starobeshevsky district is located in the steppe zone in the south-east of the Donetsk region. In the north the district borders on the territory of the Donetsk city. In the west it borders on Volnovakha district of the Donetsk region, in the east on Amvrosievka district, in the south on Telmanovo district. The administrative centre is located in the urban village Starobeshevo practically in the center of the district, 35 km. to the south-east from Donetsk and 13 km. from the railway station Menchugovo. Key advantage: In the south-east part the district's boundary coincides with the state border of Ukraine and Russia. The climate of the district is moderate-continental with relatively cold winter and warm summer.

JSC "Komsomolskoe rudoupravlenie", produced in 2001 6,4 mln. tons of metallurgical limestone to the sum of 64 mln.UAH. JSC factory "Stroydetal". JSC of a closed type "Shevchenkovsky zavod stroymaterialov" (construction materials plant) The main problem is that this company is in a process of readjustment and is looking for investors now. JSC "Starobeshevsky khlebokombinat" (bread-baking plant) in 2001 produced 3,8 thous. tons of bakery and confectionery products to the sum of 5 mln.UAH. Starobeshevsky inter-economic feed mill in 2001 produced 212 tons od mixed fodder, 75 tons of wheat flour, 178 tons of vegetable oil to the total sum of 102 thous. UAH.
Natural resources Fire-clay, amethysts, leuco-sapphires, jaspers, fossil corals, flourspar. District has the an opportunity to widen existing and create new facilities for developing, extracting and processing of above mentioned mineral resources.
Agricultural complex Land resources of the district are 125,5 thous. hectares, including farmland - 106,8 thous. hectares where 90 thous. hectares of tillage. The basiccrops, productivity in 2001: - grain - 29,6 centner/ hectare - sunflower - 10,2 centner/ hectare - vegetables - 106,8 centner/ hectare Starobeshevskiy district is basically agricultural. Therefore, this industry is represented by 35 farms, among them 21 are large-scale farms. Besides, 148 farmer houses are engaged in agricultural goods production. Agricultural enterprises specialize in grain, sunflower and milk production.
In the district there are some representative offices of such banks as the Ukrainian joint-stock industrial-investment bank (the representative office is in Komsomolskoe), the Donetsk department of Aval bank (the representative office in Starobeshevo), Sberbank of Ukraine (the representative office in Starobeshevo).
In Starobeshevsky district there are 3 technical colleges (in the town Komsomolskoe, urban village Starobeshevo and the village Rasdolnoe).
